Friday’s Serie B action delivered plenty of drama as Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC and Palermo FC went head-to-head at Stadio Cino e Lillo Del Duca. The match proved to be a tactical battle, with both teams eager to claim all three points and strengthen their league positions as the 2026-2027 campaign heats up.
It was the hosts who struck first, thanks to a well-taken goal by Matteo Brunori Sandri in the 19th minute. His early breakthrough gave Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC a deserved lead and set the tone for a fiercely competitive encounter. However, Palermo FC refused to be outdone, and their persistence paid off after the break. Filippo Ranocchia, introduced just after half-time, made an immediate impact by netting the equalizer in the 55th minute—highlighting his knack for influencing games off the bench.
Both managers turned to their substitutes in search of a winning goal, making a series of tactical changes throughout the second half. Despite these efforts, neither side managed to break the deadlock again, as defenses held firm and clear-cut chances were at a premium in the closing stages. Ranocchia’s performance stood out, both for his timely goal and for the energy he brought to Palermo FC’s midfield after coming on.
The result means both Ascoli Calcio 1898 FC and Palermo FC add a point to their tallies, with little movement in the Serie B table. As the season progresses, every point becomes crucial, and Friday’s draw underlines just how evenly matched the competition remains this year.
With only this fixture on the slate for the day, all eyes now turn to the weekend’s action as teams continue their pursuit of promotion in a wide-open Serie B campaign.
